"The dunes of Jakarl squirm with the sand-devils. Vile, lamprey like beasts with serpentine bodies and round maws ladden with tearing, dagger-like teeth. When the first settlers landed upon the surface after decades of sub-space travel, they were quickly annihilated by the beasts. But as the years passed and the treasures of Jakarl were discovered, more travelers came and settled. As the years passed rumours would cross the planet of the 'devil tamers,' men and women who somehow turned these horrible beasts into tamed pets. Aria, one such devil-tamer and an ardent explorer, utilizes the sand swimming skills of the devils to explore the dunes and the ancient ruins of a long dead ancient alien race."
